Traditional Midwifery
Traditional midwifery is the art and practice of providing natural and holistic childbirth-related health care. It includes techniques that have been passed down through the centuries, as well as modern, innovative techniques that are consistent with long-standing principles of midwifery. These midwives are women helping women in honesty, kindness, gentleness and understanding. They respect the preferences and desires of the women and families who request their services and encourage the active involvement of family members in the child-bearing process. In everything these midwives do, they promote respect for women and the sanctity of motherhood, family and home. Dianne wishes to emulate the compassionate service of the biblical and pioneer midwives who preceded her and she is proud to carry on the tradition of “Guardian of the Hearth.”

I am a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife)
My philosophy on home birth:
I consider myself to have the same philosophy as Dianne Bjarnson on birth. Our job as midwives is to be hands on when needed. If something is needed to be done, we are pretty straight with our clients. We believe that midwives are there to help you at a birth, including the use of herbs and supplements. I consider the use of herbs still within the natural realm of birthing. If there is a problem such as a hemorrhage, we start with herbs first. I work with licensed midwives that can carrying Pitocin if we need it. My future goal is to become licensed so I can carry this drug myself.

I believe that nutrition and the use of the right herbs are critical in preparing for birth. I focus on herbal use during pregnancy in preparation for the skin and the cervix to stretch. This can help prevent deep tearing.. This prep work is incredibly important especially with for time mothers.

I focus on the importance of getting iron levels up. High iron levels help prevent postpartum hemorrhage and helps women recover better after birth. I check iron levels throughout pregnancy and use desicated liver to help mothers keep their hemoglobin up and prevent anemia.
